Colleagues from across our Leicestershire division were recognised for their long service and outstanding contribution in a ceremony at Badgers Mount Hotel in Leicestershire on Thursday 27 June 2025.

Colleagues from across the service were recognised on the day, with recipients clocking up an EMAZING 510 years of service between them.

Lord-Lieutenant of Leicestershire, Michael Kapur OBE CStJ and High Sheriff for Leicestershire, Mr Stephen Bryan joined Director of Operations, Ben Holdaway, Associate Non-Executive Director, Ballu Patel, Divisional Director for Leicestershire, Susannah Ashton and Divisional Senior Managers Nicole Grant and Mark Dixon in presenting the awards.

Lord-Lieutenant of Leicestershire, Michael Kapur OBE CStJ thanked staff on behalf of the people of Leicestershire for the incredible work they do and spoke on a personal note about the gratitude he felt for our crews after they attended to him last year when he became seriously ill.

Among those celebrated, there were also several staff who had retired from EMAS who were recognised for their contribution to the service. They included:

  • Tonina Hollis-Rathbone

The division also wanted to take the time to recognise those who had gone above and beyond in their roles with the Leicestershire Annual Excellence Awards. Over 100 staff nominations were received for the six categories and winners included those who supported others through struggles, demonstrated commitment to their learning, used their free time to contribute to station and completed research into health inequalities which will now be presented at a national forum.

Out of the nominations, the Divisional Director’s Award was chosen for a staff member who had been nominated numerous times by different people. The award went to Balbinder Kaur, Domestic at Gorse Hill Station for her dedication, hard work and for being a breath of fresh air.

“Her warm, kind demeanour creates a sense of home, reminding us we’re cared for. She’s truly the heart of the station, always giving without hesitation.”

Ben Holdaway, Director of Operations at EMAS said:

“I absolutely love coming along to these events and it amazing to be able to spend time with colleagues who have done amazing things.”
