At EMAS we are committed to improving the care and experience of our patients by driving quality and paramedic practice forward through the undertaking of high quality research.
We believe that all of our patients should be given the opportunity to participate in research and contribute to the evidence base that informs and improves emergency medical healthcare in the UK, and worldwide.
We have developed strong links and work in partnership with an impressive range of academic institutions, other ambulance services, our NHS and social care partners, National Ambulance Research Steering Group (NARSG) and the National Institute for Health Research.
Any research involving our patients, staff or data will need relevant approvals. Please contact our research team via email at email@example.com or telephone 01522 832611 as early as possible to discuss the feasibility of carrying out your study in our organisation.
Performance in initiating and delivering research
The Government wishes to see a dramatic and sustained improvement in the performance of providers of NHS services in initiating and delivering clinical research. The aim is to increase the number of patients who have the opportunity to participate in research and to enhance the nation’s attractiveness as a host for research.
NHS providers holding National Institute of Health Research (NIHR) contracts are required to provide, on a quarterly basis, information on recruitment to clinical trials including commercial contract clinical trials. EMAS is required to submit information on the following two areas:
- Initiating clinical research:
(Q2 17-18) spread sheet
- Delivering commercial contract clinical research to time and target:
(Q2 17-18 nil return)
