EMAS receives many letters of thanks from the public but some people choose to go further - by making a donation to our Trust.

He’s cute, cuddly, helps youngsters in distress and rides around in an ambulance…meet ParaTed!

More EMAS emergency vehicles than ever before are carrying these unique teddy bears which have proved to be such a big hit with young patients.

The aim of the toy is to put children at ease when they are riding to hospital in an ambulance.

As well as relieving anxiety, the young patient can use the bear’s paws to point to the area of their body that is injured or “hurts” – helping our paramedics to identify their condition.

EMAS Ambulance Technician Alan Chetwynd, who is based at Stapleford Ambulance Station in Nottinghamshire, created and patented Para Ted© in the 1990’s.

Alan had originally used his own bear to relieve anxiety for youngsters, help him find out from the child “where it hurts” and demonstrate what treatment he will give.  Now Alan’s on a mission to make Para Ted© available on every vehicle throughout EMAS.  And with your kind and generous donations to the ambulance service, we’re heading in the right direction!

Proceeds from all sales go towards the purchase of ParaTed© bears for EMAS vehicles.
